I joined the innovative learning program in an attempt to stretch myself and broaden my horizons. I learned how to be a teacher in a bit of a bubble. My credential program was very traditional (think lots of direct instruction, very little innovation) and then I spent a couple of years subbing while I waited for a position in my content area to open up. Once I found myself a position, things had changed, drastically and while I was very willing to try new things, I didn't really have much of a clue what those new things were. So I was very excited to join the innovative learning program. I'm looking forward to broadening my pedagogical and technological horizons.
My philosophy of education is that everyone deserves a chance to broaden their horizons with the acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills. I an excited to be the person who can help build that bridge between a student and understanding. It's really amazing what some students can do when they apply themselves t the task at hand. I feel like it is my job to support students as they are entering a new world. It is my job to give them the tools and skills they will need to navigate the new world they are entering.
My TPACK journey has been wildly enhanced by the innovative learning program. Overall I am pretty confident in my content knowledge. On the other hand my technology knowledge has been increased. We have been introduced to so many new tech tools that I am really excited about finding ways to really boost my TC classroom skills.
