Post about anything that's on my mind....
My plan all along has been to get two master's, one in education and one in content. For me that's literature. One of my main reasons for choosing Touro was that Pam told me they were starting up a program where students could double master in Ed and content. I was thrilled! Now it looks like they've decided against offering any content masters in literature. So I'll have to go elsewhere to get my second masters. It will be interesting to see how that ends up working out. I see lots of commuting in my future. SF State and Sonoma seem the most likely candidates, but I will also have to look into what my online options are.
The thing that's really got me thinking about this is my connection to my research. My focus was all about student engagement. I wanted to know how to best support my students as they became engaged readers. So for me, all this time spent thinking about a second, literature base, masters has been a really great way for me to connect with my research from the beginning of this program. I get to think about how I relate to reading both as an educator/researcher and as a student reader. It's been good to reaffirm the connection for me.
